Having mercury or other toxic metals in process feeds often leads to difficulties in meeting regulatory requirements. Stringent control of mercury in wastewater and other effluents is a growing trend for all regulatory entities.

It is incumbent upon companies to take a proactive stance on pollution prevention and to take the steps necessary to comply with anticipated regulations. MTS has completed a major study of mercury removal from wastewaters for the American Petroleum Institute. In addition, MTS is presently engaged in several projects aimed at predicting the fate of mercury found in crude oil, gas condensates and petrochemical feedstocks.
